The Lyons Avenue Renaissance is truly an invitation to join a progressive journey to the 5th Ward’s next level, a multi-million dollar development strategy through 2020. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is an investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing access to education, capital and business support services.  To date, more than 10,000 business owners have graduated from the program across all 50 states in the US, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.


PARRA DESIGN GROUP, LTD. was founded in 1998 by Camilo Parra who is currently president of the company. Camilo has a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and has extensive experience in the architectural, engineering, and construction fields We design, build, and develop projects.

ROSS MORTUARY opened to serve the public in the Fall of 1938, located at its present address, 3618 Lyons Avenue, under the leadership of Burnett and Helene Ross. Today, under the ownership of Edward & Burnell (Ross) Loche, Ross Mortuary, Inc. has seen even more growth and widespread progress.


Ross Mortuary, Inc., as a small business, employs over 40 full time and part time employees, occupies and owns a well maintained 6,000 square foot building that sits on two acres of land, as well as some surrounding properties. Ross Mortuary, Inc. and its staff services over 350 families each year and maintains its reputation of being a family owned and operated business. Although there have been changes throughout the years, one thing remains constant, our dedication to our clients, our community, our employees, and our 77 year old motto,“ Service of Distinction.”

Norman embarked on the incredible journey of being a franchised owner of The UPS Store Inc.   He quickly found success due to his belief in providing world-class customer service while going above and beyond for his customers and employees. 


By April 2012, he was blessed to be able to open a second center and soon followed that by purchasing a third existing center in November of 2014.  With a fourth location Vincent and his employees have been awarded in consecutive years running for locations that have achieved the highest STR (subject to royalty) sales by store age for the geographical region of Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. 


MYSTIC LYON Specializes in art and Recreational Aesthetics is located on the corner of Lyons Avenue and Mystic Street in Houston's historic Fifth Ward neighborhood.


Mystic Lyon is owned and operated by Emily Sloan. In addition to public art installations, Mystic Lyon hosts artist-led workshops, film screenings, salon- style pot- lucks, and weekly organic food deliveries. It also plays host to the Fifth Ward Badminton Club, Root Lock Sessions and is a founder and sponsoring host of the Fifth Ward Chamber of Commerce


EMPIRE HOLDING LLC owned by George A. Mata  President/CEO. A real estate business focused on buying, renovating and building new homes in the 5th Ward and Houston area. Mr. Mata has been involved in over 600 real estate transactions in single and multi- family homes, and specializes in providing solutions on problem properties with title issues and major repairs.


In 2015, Mr. Mata decided it was time to start his own company. As a native to the Houston area, he wanted to help contribute to the growth and invest in the vast potential the city has to offer.
